Government Universities in Ukraine

The only University in Ukraine that provides post graduation courses in English medium- Odessa State Medical University. The first University in Ukraine to start medical education in English medium in 1996. 

This Government University is into existence for more than 100 years with the rights of self governing. OSMU is the only university of Ukraine, which is member of MEDINE (Medical EDucation IN Europe). Many of the world known scientists and founders of various medical Institutions have worked with OSMU have brought glory to the world of science. The University ranks IV level of accreditation by the state level accreditation committee of Ukraine. It is a non profit public higher education institution .

There are following qualification levels in various field of science junior specialist, Specialist, Master.

The areas of specialisation are as follows:

a)Medical b) Dental c) Pediatric  d) Pharmaceutical e)Post Graduation.

The University comprises of 56 departments, a medical college, preparatory faculty and post graduation faculty having a capacity to enrol around 4000 students including around 1200 foreign students from various countries all over the world. The Students are trained in English, French, and Russian Language. Till now seven batches have been completed in English medium. OSMU has huge base of around some 800 teachers, 18 academicians, 105 professors and doctors, 407 docents and candidates of medical science. During the course sessions the students are well equipped with all the latest technologies of the world. It is essentially due to the close links with the leading universities and academic centres in the world. The aim of OSMU is to produce the best from the given students. The main aim of the University is to bring out the doctors with excellence and complete knowledge on the profession. 

The University covers huge area giving all facilities to the teachers and students in the campus itself. It has hostel facilities, Library , own publishing printing complex, scientific medical computer centre, Polyclinics providing medical aid free of cost to students studying in OSMU, Museums , sports complex,Clutural clubs , recreational centres for students to rest.  A Centre of Distance Education has been created for effective and uninterrupted professional development of doctors and pharmaceutics. There also exists the centre of students’ creative work which is called “VITA” at the university. 

Admissions are carried on first come serves basis. Students fulfilling the requirements get admissions from 1st July to 1st October of every year. Students need to clear entrance exams along with the past performance play a major role in the admission, thereby making the admission process selective. The course fee is relatively low as compared to other universities in Ukraine.  The Tenure for the various courses is six years including one year of internship. The Climatic Conditions are favourable that enables students to stay comfortably.  The University is located in the 3rd largest city of Ukraine on the coast of Black sea. It is termed as the heaven of Students as Odessa city itself has 5 huge educational institutions in the city.
